- Start: Post St. at Fillmore St.
- Finish: Sutter St. at Buchanan St.
- Length: 6 blocks
1 hour for shopping & fun (more if you plan on eating)
On Post St., head towards the Japan Center in the Kinokuniya Building (1812 Post St). Here you will find unique Japanese restaurants and shops. An indoor bridge on the second story of the building leads you over Webster St. to the rest of the shops and restaurants.
Outside the center is a beautiful the Peace Plaza. If you’re lucky enough to be here in the spring, the cherry blossoms are a sight to see.
Leave the Japan Center and head up to Nijiya Market (1737 Post), a grocery
store that has sushi and a deli for takeout lunch.
Tora-Ya Restaurant (1734 Post), Japantown’s oldest restaurant, has good food and reasonable prices. Next door is Sharaku (1726 Post), which sells Japanese music and instruments. Soko Hardware (1698 Post) has a misleading
name. It carries Japanese art, tools and art supplies.
Head north on Buchanan, peek into the rest of the shops that hide in the plaza and end your walk at Sutter St.
