Walk along the Embarcadero and see the active San Francisco Bay. Start the walk with the Bay Bridge towering over you. Day or night this magnificent structure is definitely something to see.
Head north towards the building with the clock tower, the Ferry Building (Market & The Embarcadero). Step inside this piece of history to find the many local artisan food shops and restaurants. On the weekends, a huge farmers market surrounds the outside of the building.
Stop at Pier 7, and if you’re lucky enough to remember your fishing pole, you can join the locals on this 900 foot public fishing pier. If you forgot your pole at home, it’s still fun to see what the fisherman are up to.
Hunt down the
Fog City Diner (Battery St. & The Embarcadero). You’ll find this shiny, chrome-and-neon diner that is not only photogenic, but also serves good food. Skip the tables and sit at the little counter near the kitchen, where it’s fun to watch all the action.
Teatro Zinzanni, the white tent on Pier 29, offers a wild blend of circus and dinner theater.
Make sure to peek in the windows at Pier 35, which houses the San Francisco
cruise ship terminal. Finish this walk at Pier 39. If you have more time, continue onto the Fisherman’s Wharf on Pier 39 and enjoy the many, tourist-filled shops.
